Church & Community
Highfields Church of Christ is a small, enthusiastic, warm, and welcoming congregation. Located 13km north of Toowoomba and 140km west of Brisbane City. Church community ranges from 0 to 80+ in age, with the elderly members contributing significantly to the 60 regular attendees.
Attendees live within close proximity to Highfields Church of Christ; some travel from as far as Crows Nest (30km). Originally a rural residential district but over the past 10 years Highfields has become one of Queensland’s fastest growing communities (current population is approximately 8,600) with much housing development still in the pipeline.
Highfields is now considered a family-friendly satellite town that has everything one needs - but just a stone’s throw from Toowoomba City and a gateway to high country hamlets.
THE LEAD PASTOR’S ROLE
We are looking for a Lead Pastor who is willing and able to:
- work with the Eldership to provide strategic and spiritual leadership
- provide oversight for the various ministries in the church
- provide pastoral care for the congregation and other members of the community as appropriate
- coordinate corporate worship services including a significant preaching responsibility.
The Lead Pastor must fulfil the following criteria:
- Deep and ongoing personal relationship with Christ and reliance on The Holy Spirit
- Ability to communicate effectively with love and respect
- Highly skilled in communication, strategic planning and leadership.
- A proven track record of effective ministry in a contemporary church
- A proven track record of leading missional activities within a local community
- Awareness of their own giftings, and ability to identify the giftings in others including providing opportunities for them to make use of those gifts
- Appropriate theological training is vital
- Applicants must have the right to live and work in Australia
- Hold a current Australian driving licence.
About the position:
- Full-time, with flexible working arrangements.
- Salary and conditions are based on the recommendations of Churches of Christ Queensland.
- The successful applicant is expected to join the cohort of pastors from across Churches of Christ Queensland as a wider network of support.
- Commencement date will be in January 2025 or as otherwise negotiated with the leadership team.
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Possess a Blue Card or have ability to obtain;
- Possess National Police Record Check or have ability to obtain;
and also:
- Sign the Churches of Christ Queensland Code of Conduct for Ministering Persons.
- Become endorsed as a Ministering Person with Churches of Christ in Qld.
