Associate Pastor

We are seeking an Associate Pastor to serve the church here at Aldinga Bay Baptist Church (ABBC). The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Pastor to provide spiritual guidance, pastoral care and encourage the overall growth and development of the entire congregation. Children’s ministry and young family’s ministry will be specific areas of responsibility.

Hours & Renumeration:

• 4 days/week (0.8 FTE).
• It is expected the working hours will be flexible to suit ministry needs.
• Renumeration as per BCSANT recommended ministers stipend package.

Personal Attributes:

• Demonstrate a personal, active, and strong relationship with Jesus Christ and fruit of the Holy Spirit.
• Fulfil the scriptural requirements of an overseer (pastor) as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
• Pastoral warmth and ability to share the love of God to the entire church.
• Able to balance responsibilities to family and work.

Professional Qualifications:

• Ministry/theological degree preferable but not required.
• Pastoral ministries experience preferable but not required.
• Willingness to pursue BCSANT Recognised Pastors or Accreditation pathways.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support the Senior Pastor for church-wide ministry.
• Participate in and support the church-wide ministry.
• Join and contribute to the ABBC staff team.
• Join the preaching ministry and preach once each month.
• Oversee volunteer ministry teams for creche and children ministries.
• Join the children’s ministry teaching team and oversee curriculum.
• Develop a ministry to ABBC young families.
• Supporting the Elders in general pastoral care for the church.
• Participate in church-wide events where appropriate.

Skill Requirements:

• Organised and general computer.
• Teaching/public speaking.
• Empower and support teams.
• A Pastoral heart.
• Theological ministry thinking.
• Ability to work in a team and autonomously.

Commitments:

• Complete Working With Children Check & Child Safe Training seminar.
• Uphold ABBC Constitution (inc. Statement of Faith).
• If applicable, wife and children committed to be part of ABBC.
• If necessary, be willing to relocate to Southern Vales region.
• Participate in ongoing professional development.

ABBC is a multi-generational church, established in Aldinga, South Australia for over 25 years. Average weekly attendance is 80-120 people. We are an Elder-led congregational church with 90 Members. We are a member church of Baptist Churches SA&NT.

The Southern Vales region includes popular beaches, hills, vines, and nature. Aldinga Beach is a coastal suburb and an easy 50-minute drive south of the Adelaide CBD.
