POSITION DESCRIPTION – VOLUNTEER HONORARY TREASURER
About Zambia’s Child
Zambia’s Child (ZC) is a non-denominational organisation based in St Ives, NSW. The mission of ZC is to help alleviate poverty in Zambia, primarily through quality education. ZC has sponsorship programs for more than 400 primary and secondary school students in Chingola, a large town in the Copperbelt Province. ZC currently has 53 sponsored staff including executive staff, student welfare staff, teachers (and teacher aides), chaplain, security and maintenance staff, agriculturalists and chefs.
In 2013 ZC acquired 2.5 hectares of land to build the Ipalo Christian School on the outskirts of Chingola.
Stage 1 construction was completed in September 2015 and further stages were completed with Stage 6 completed in December 2022. A further 3 hectares of adjacent land have been acquired for agricultural purposes. In 2023 a Boarding House for 24 girls and 2 matrons was opened and we are planning for next year to open another wing for 24 boys and 3 matron/patrons.
All fundraising and administrative activities are coordinated from the St Ives office. All work done in Australia for ZC is conducted by volunteers in order that the funds raised can be devoted to the children’s programs in Zambia.
