St Luke’s Grammar School is one of eighteen schools that are part of the Anglican Schools Corporation (ASC) network of schools. The ASC works closely with the Principal and School Council to ensure wise oversight and governance of the School and provide support with core services including finance, IT, Compliance and Human Resources.
About the Role
St Luke’s Grammar School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and professional Library Assistant who is suitably qualified and enjoys working in a collaborative team. The Library Assistant is responsible for providing day-to-day administrative and clerical support to the LearningHub team – Library and Information Services. This position performs a wide variety of administrative support services, all of which contribute to the efficient and professional operation of the LearningHub. The applicant will be suitably qualified and enjoy working in a collaborative team. The successful applicant will preferably be a Christian actively involved in their church.

(0.4 FTE) Term time only
Level: C-12
Commencement: Term 3 2025 (ideally around August 25)

Key Roles / Duties / Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities
- Dynamic fast-paced environment liaising with Pre-K to Year 12 students and staff
- Supportive close-knit friendly library team of 4 staff
- Variety in your day
As the Library Assistant, your role will be varied, liaising with and supporting a wide variety of staff and students from Pre-Kindergarten through to Year 12. You will work in a close-knit team consisting of a Systems Librarian, a Library Technician and two Teacher Librarians. Your day will be varied and will include:
- Actively develop an understanding of the LEARNING@STLUKE’S Framework
- First point of contact for circulation desk enquiries and borrowing
- Maintaining LearningHub accounts, and processing of orders in line with existing collection development policies and procedures. This includes placing and receiving orders for the purchasing of stationery supplies, equipment, books, and other library materials; obtaining approvals, maintaining subscription services, entering acquisitions, maintaining records and files of expenditures; and verifying invoices.
- Effective communication with vendors and the School’s accounting office
- Book covering, shelving, shelf-checking
- Assisting with resources required for day-to-day teaching and learning in the LearningHub. This includes supporting students and teachers with the use of iPads, projectors and Media spaces
- Assisting students and staff with photocopying, research and use of LearningHub spaces and technology
- Developing promotional materials for the digital display
- Assisting in the selection and management of resources including processing and cataloguing of resources, collection maintenance and stocktake (if the applicant has previous library technician qualifications/experience)
- A willingness to undertake continuous professional development
- Undertake any other duties as requested by the Principal
Attributes and Expectations
The successful applicant will:
- Show active support for the Christian faith
- Have a willingness to be rostered flexibly between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm
- Ideally have previous library administrative experience
- Be proficient in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel, forward-thinking and adaptable in learning new technology
- Proficiency in Graphic Design platforms such as Canva or Adobe Express is desirable, but not essential
- Show initiative, flexibility and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Have intellectual strength, professional integrity and a passion for education
- Have the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents
- Maintain confidentiality and commitment to professional conduct in keeping with the School’s code of conduct
- Evaluate and critically reflect upon your own professional practice and assist and support colleagues to develop their skills
- Show a commitment to ongoing self-education
- Possess excellent personal and interpersonal skills
- Have the ability to handle multiple activities or interruptions at once and to work positively and effectively within a team and independently
- Have demonstrated organisational skills
Licenses/Certificates/Qualifications
- Valid Working with Children Check required
- Certificate IV in Library and Information Services or equivalent and/or Library Technician experience is desirable, but not essential
- Customer service or administrative experience with a customer/client focus is essential
- Experience in an education environment is desirable, but not essential
- Physical/Work Environment Requirements
- Strong physical, mental and emotional health to deal with the required demands and responsibilities of the role.
