Fundraising and Communications Coordinator

Do you have a heart for vulnerable people and a passion for fundraising? St John's Community Services (SJCS) is looking for a dedicated Fundraising and Communications Coordinator to join our small, dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and self-sufficient individual with up to two years of experience in fundraising to make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

About Us

SJCS operates three vital community programs:

  • Rough Edges: A safe, supportive drop-in centre for people experiencing homelessness and vulnerability.
  • Banksia Women: A compassionate community program for women who are survivors of domestic violence.
  • Urban Insight: An education program helping people understand the life of homelessness and isolation from those with first-hand experience

We are closely linked with St John's Anglican Church, Darlinghurst. Our work is underpinned by our Christian faith and values.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for coordinating our fundraising efforts and communications. This is a hands-on role where you will be instrumental in the success of our key annual campaigns, which include:

  • End of Financial Year
  • Christmas Appeal
  • Our flagship event, Roughtober

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating major donor campaigns and engaging with our supporters.
  • Managing and maintaining our fundraising database (experience with Keela or similar systems is essential).
  • Overseeing campaign platforms such as Raisely.
  • Executing meticulous administration, including receipting, reporting, and monthly reconciliations.
  • Some public speaking, particularly at church services, to share the stories and impact of our work.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have up to two years of experience in a fundraising role.
  • Be highly organised, meticulous, and a self-starter.
  • Be a collaborative and supportive team player.
  • Possess a genuine empathy and passion for helping vulnerable communities.
  • Share our Christian faith and values and an active membership in a Christian church
  • Knowledge and experience of the Sydney Anglican context is highly desirable.

If you are a motivated individual with a heart for service and the skills to help us grow our impact, we would love to hear from you.

Please contact Gabriel Lacoba (gabriel.lacoba@sjcs.org.au ) if to receive a copy of the Job Description. If you wish to apply, send a cover letter addressing the skills and attributes in the job description plus your up-to-date resume.
