Our client, Temcare is a not-for-profit Christian welfare agency associated with the Christian Community Churches of Victoria and Tasmania. It has been operating since 1968 and provides a range of services for vulnerable families and individuals within the Victorian community spanning both the Melbourne metropolitan area and primarily in the Eastern and Southeastern regions. They are entirely funded by donations from individuals, churches and charitable trusts and their purpose is to extend the love of Christ to those who are struggling to cope with life.

In this key position, the Executive Manager of Child & Family Services will provide daily management for the organisation, including coaching, empowering and facilitating staff in their respective roles, reviewing and enhancing program processes, identifying resourcing needs and setting directions and monitoring and implementation. Working with the CEO and directly with the Board, you will play a significant role in leading the fulfillment of Temcare’s commitment to support families, children and young people through building strong relationships and stronger futures, addressing their practical and spiritual needs.

You will also be responsible for;

  • Continuing to embed a culture of person-centred practices, maintaining professional standards and providing support and development for staff
  • Leading and delivering a high-quality service and customer experience
  • Demonstrate a Christian example to all staff, volunteers and the community.
  • Attending Board meetings, presenting management and other reports as required.
  • Identifying opportunities to further the depth of newly growing programs and contribute to grow the range of programs offered.
  • Supporting the CEO in ensuring sound financial systems, procedures and controls are in place.
  • Become familiar with key stakeholders related to fundraising activities and promotional opportunities, support the CEO to help grow the impact of programs.
  • Maintaining and support in recruiting positive ministry partnerships with Churches and like-minded agencies, to help promote Temcare’s work.

 Temcare seeks an experienced candidate who has: 

  • Demonstrated management experience in child and family services.
  • A passion for leading, coaching and shaping a values-based work-culture.
  • A proven track record in service development, program design or program management, quality, compliance and risk reporting.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, welfare and or Business Management.
  • Christian commitment with demonstrated experience in agency and/or church or ministry leadership.
  • Has a familiarity with shaping new delivery and partnership models and can manage existing program management as well as contribute to areas of new program growth.
  • Sound working knowledge of legislation and frameworks that regulate the Family Services sector.

You will be an exceptional people manager who leads with personal values and knows how to build quality teams and has demonstrated strategic and operational thinking. Naturally you will share Temcares Christian values and are passionate about leading and mentoring staff to help them effectively care for those families in need.
