Are you passionate about discipling the next generation and leading children to a deeper relationship with Jesus? LifeGate Church in Glen Waverley, Melbourne is seeking a part-time Children’s Pastor / Ministry Leader (20 hours per week) to oversee our children’s ministry - equipping leaders, supporting families and co-ordinating an engaging kids program.

This is a 12-month Parental Leave Replacement Contract, with the possibility of ongoing employment subject to review and mutual agreement.

Key responsibilities include:

• Organising and co-ordinating children programs, including weekend services programs and special events.
• Leading and overseeing the Children’s ministry Core Team.
• Leading and supporting the Children’s ministry Volunteer Team.
• Recruiting and training volunteers for Children’s ministry.
• Providing pastoral care and discipleship for children and their families.
• Adapting curriculum to suit LifeGate’s Children’s ministry context and needs.
• Ensuring the Children’s ministry is connected to the church’s broader mission and community.

You will:

• Build a Christ-centred children’s program for an average of 50 children each weekend.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate spiritual content and programs.
• Provide regular guidance, training, and support to kids leaders and volunteers.
• Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the broader ministry goals of LifeGate Church.
• Assist with various church-wide projects or initiatives as needed, utilising your skills and available capacity.
• Support the Associate Pastor (Next Gen) as and when required.
• Participate in a local network of children’s pastors and leaders from other churches to provide support and resources for ministry work, and facilitate personal growth.

Skills:

• Proven ability to lead and inspire teams in a ministry context.
• Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with children, parents, and volunteers.
• Skilled in equipping and mobilising volunteers for children’s ministry.
• Able to adapt and develop curriculum for children’s ministry.
• Organisational and coordination skills, including program planning, volunteer communication, role delegation, and roster management.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• A minimum of two years of children ministry experience.
• Completed (or committed to) accreditation with CCVT.
• A Christian for at least two years with a growing personal relationship with Christ.
• Baptised, and a member (or working towards being a member) of LifeGate Church.
• Attend a LifeGate Church cell group regularly
• Alignment with LifeGate’s mission and values.
• Eligible to work in Australia, and hold or be eligible for an active Employee Working with Children Check.
