About us
Compassion Australia is part of Compassion International, a global network of more than 40 countries. Together with millions of our neighbours—sponsors, supporters and church partners—around the world, we are a Christian child development ministry that seeks to put love in action and release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

Full Job Description

As the National School Community Manager, you will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team, overseeing a strategic portfolio of partner schools particularly in Sydney, and driving continuous improvement in how we engage with these schools and support these valuable partnerships.

Your work will directly influence thousands of students and educators, advancing Compassion’s mission to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. If you are passionate about education, faith-driven impact, and building meaningful relationships, this role offers the chance to make a lasting difference in communities across the country.

About the role

The successful applicant’s core responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead Compassion’s national school partnerships strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational mission and consistent, high-impact delivery across regions.
  • Manage and grow key school relationships, particularly in Sydney, fostering strong connections with senior education leaders to expand Compassion’s influence.
  • Coach and support a team of School Community Managers, building a collaborative, high-performing team culture focused on innovation and mission impact.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in school programs, using partner feedback and student insights to strengthen engagement and outcomes.
  • Enhance Compassion’s visibility and credibility within the education sector by representing the organisation in key networks, events, and strategic collaborations.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and reporting by tracking national performance, sharing insights, and supporting cross-team learning and improvement.
  • Model organisational values and behaviours, contributing positively to team culture, relationships, and the overall success of Compassion’s mission.

About you
We’re looking for an individual with:

  • Proven leadership in business development or B2B partnerships.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with experience engaging senior school leaders.
  • Strategic mindset with experience in education, community, or discipleship context.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Skilled in managing priorities, leading teams, and influencing across functions.
  • Comfortable using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Canva AI, data tools) and open to experimenting with emerging tech to boost productivity and impact.

Desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Commerce, Marketing, Project Management, or a relevant field
  • Experience in Christian or values-aligned education settings.
  • Background in not-for-profit, ministry, or youth development sectors.
  • Understanding of service-learning or faith-based education.
  • Theological training or confidence speaking in Christian school environments.

At the heart of Compassion’s ministry is a relentless passion to act on our faith and empower every child left vulnerable by poverty. Our work is Christ-centred, child-focused, and church-based. The successful candidate will be strongly aligned to the values of this leading Christian not-for-profit organisation.

We’re looking for someone with a heart for Compassion’s work and equipped with the right skills and experience to fit the role. So even if your experience doesn’t tick every item on our list, we’d still love to hear from you.
