Director of Quality and Standards

Fixed-Term Contract Full-time (2 Years)
Location: Parramatta (Hybrid arrangement may be available at a later stage)

Alphacrucis University College (AC) is seeking an experienced and values-driven Director of Quality and Standards (DQS) to provide strategic leadership across the University College’s quality assurance, compliance, and academic standards functions.

This role is critical in ensuring AC’s higher education (HE), vocational education and training (VET), and micro-credential (MC) offerings align with relevant regulatory frameworks and sector standards. The DQS will champion a proactive, instructive, and supportive approach to quality assurance, reflecting Alphacrucis’ ethos as a Christian education provider.

Purpose of the Role

The Director of Quality and Standards provides leadership for AC’s quality assurance activities, overseeing the development, implementation, and monitoring of systems and processes aligned with frameworks such as the Higher Education Standards Framework, VET Quality Framework, and National Micro-credentials Frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Leadership

  • Lead the development, monitoring, and reporting of quality assurance systems across HE, VET, and MC programs, including multi-campus and third-party arrangements.
  • Mitigate risks to academic quality, enhance student experience, oversee independent reviews, and conduct internal audits.
  • Lead internal quality activities including grade monitoring, external moderation, and benchmarking.

Academic Governance & Accreditation

  • Contribute to academic governance through participation on AC’s Academic Board and chairing a sub-committee if requested.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of applications for course accreditation, registration renewals, CRICOS, regulatory audits, and statutory reporting.
  • Oversee review and maintenance of self-accredited courses and those on the National Register and Scope of Registration.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and ally to faculty leaders on quality assurance in course development and delivery.
  • Maintain strong relationships with third-party partners, supporting and reviewing partner operations related to quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support new opportunities in HE, VET, MC, and short course delivery.

Capability Building & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead or contribute to professional development activities for AC and third-party staff in quality assurance and enhancement.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support continuous improvement across the institution.
  • Participate in broader staff activities and undertake additional duties as required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Completion of a higher education qualification from an Australian university.
  • Commitment to the Christian faith as a practising Christian.
  • Current TAE qualification (strongly preferred but not essential).
  • Willingness to undertake further professional development if required.

Experience

  • Demonstrated success in leading quality assurance activities, preferably within a dual-sector provider.
  • Strong record of delivering outcomes and engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience managing multiple, complex projects across varied stakeholder groups.

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of Australian HE and VET standards, frameworks, and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of professional accrediting bodies such as NESA, PACFA, CPA, and similar authorities.
  • Familiarity with the ESOS Act, CRICOS, and regulatory submission processes.
