Position: Cafe and Op Shop Manager Location: Southport, Gold Coast Part Time: 21 hours per week
CrossLife – a baptist church Southport Campus is looking for an experienced and motivated Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our training caf? and Op Shop. This unique role combines hands-on caf? and retail management with mentoring and training responsibilities. The Manager will ensure smooth service, maintain high standards of retail service and coffee and food preparation, and support the development of trainees learning retail, hospitality and barista skills.
The Southport Campus mission is driven by ‘A Heart for Southport’ and particularly the vulnerable and disadvantaged within our community. The cafe and Op Shop is closely aligned with this and works in conjunction with other services that are provided from the Campus including a Food Pantry, ESL classes and community meal.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Training and Supervision: support and mentor trainees in barista skills, customer service, cafe and retail operations
- Cafe Operations: manage daily cafe operations including rostering, stock management, maintenance and cleaning
- Op Shop Operations: manage daily Op Shop operations including volunteer rostering and property maintenance
- Customer service and sales: deliver excellent customer service in the Cafe and monitor for the Op Shop, resolving complaints and issues with a positive and efficient manner. Assist with marketing both Op Shop and Cafe
- Administration: manage cash handling and basic financial reporting, in conjunction with CrossLife Property. Ensure compliance with WHS and food safety regulations. Liaise with Registered Training Organisation
To be appointed to this role, applicants must:
- Proven experience in retail, cafe or hospitality management
- Strong barista skills and knowledge of coffee equipment
- Ability to mentor, teach, or support others in a learning environment
- Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards and cafe compliance requirements
- Positive attitude, patience, and the ability to work as part of a team
- Have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of the Baptist faith and preferably attend the Southport Campus for Sunday Service
- Have a current (or eligibility for) Qld Working with Children Check – ‘Blue Card’
- Have a current (or eligibility for) Australian Criminal History Check
- If applicable, have evidence of Australian Work Rights to confirm citizenship or a visa holder
