Associate Pastor

Position: Associate Pastor (Staff)
Church: Oasis Church (oasischurch.com.au)
Location: 10 Youngs Crossing Road, Bray Park QLD
Status: Full Time

Oasis Church is a vibrant, multi-generational community of believers located on the northside of Brisbane, passionate about helping more people find life in Jesus. As part of the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia, we are committed to clear gospel proclamation, faithful Bible teaching, and prayerful dependence on God. Oasis Church is led by a group of elders, supported by a staff team of both men and women, with a culture shaped by God’s grace and motivated by God’s mission.

 

The Role:
We’re seeking a gifted and gospel-hearted person with a passion to help more people find life in Jesus. They will work closely alongside the Lead Pastor, and also serve humbly and enthusiastically as part of a broader team, bringing leadership to key ministry areas and providing pastoral care and support to the wider church community. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

The Associate Pastor will be responsible for two of the following key ministry areas (there is flexibility in the exact role depending on the skills and experience of the applicant):

  1. Membership - helping people to belong
    1. Oversee the integration pathway (helping people move from attending to belonging)
    2. Design and deliver key events and courses (e.g., Starting Point and Belonging Course)
    3. Lead follow-up processes for newcomers and new members
    4. Help foster a welcoming church culture
  2. Maturity - helping people to grow 
    1. Oversee our Life Groups, including integrating new members, recruiting and training leaders, leading meetings and writing Bible study guides
    2. Deliver key training and equipping courses
    3. Help foster a culture of growth and change
  3. Ministry - equipping people to serve
    1. Oversee the recruitment and integration of new members into service teams
    2. Provide resources and training for team leaders of our various service teams
    3. Design and deliver an annual Serve Sunday
    4. Design and deliver an annual Teams Night
    5. Help foster a culture of servant-heartedness
  4. Mission - helping us to reach the lost 
    1. Oversee evangelistic events and courses (e.g. Alpha, 321 Course)
    2. Equip and train members in personal evangelism
    3. Lead follow-up processes for new believers
    4. Cultivate a culture of everyday evangelism across the church
    5. Support community outreach initiatives
    6. Support our global mission initiatives

 

The Associate Pastor would also have other pastoral responsibilities such as:

  1. Occasional preaching in Sunday services
  2. Pastoral care (alongside our Deacons)
  3. Men’s Ministry (depending on skills/experience/desire)

 

Key Details:

  1. This position is for a full-time role
  2. The start date will ideally be as soon as possible
  3. The Associate Pastor will report to the Lead Pastor
  4. Exact role responsibilities will be negotiated with the successful applicant
  5. The successful applicant must hold or be able to obtain a current Blue Card, complete a National Police History Check that returns no disclosed outcomes that would exclude them from the role, and complete ChildSafe training

 

Key Requirements:

The following skills and experience are essential for the fulfilment of this role:

  1. A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ
  2. A desire to pursue life in Jesus, shown through an obvious trust in Jesus’ finished work, a growing knowledge of God’s Word, and a deepening devotion to prayer
  3. A commitment to life together, shown through a commitment to gathering regularly with God’s people, building genuine relationships, and using gifts to serve
  4. A devotion to life for others, shown through a deep love for the lost and a desire to share the good news of the gospel
  5. Ability to preach, teach and train in both gathered and one-to-one settings
  6. Ability to support and lead leaders and large volunteer teams
  7. Good interpersonal skills (warmth, friendliness, empathy, humility)
  8. A strong ‘team player’ mentality, ideally with experience in team ministry
  9. Excellence in skills such as time-management, written and verbal communication, personal organisation, and meeting engagement
  10. Completed (or currently completing) college-level theological training
  11. A commitment to Reformed theology (Oasis Church is a member church of the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia)
