Position Description

Victoria State Director (Part Time - 3 days per week)

Organisation: Never Again is Now Ltd / Allies for a Strong Australia
Location: VIC
Reports to: CEO
Employment Type: Full-time or Part-time (flexible hours)

We are Australia’s largest grassroots organisation combatting antisemitism. We exist to make antisemitism unthinkable by renewing our national commitment to the values, texts, traditions and institutions of our western tradition.

We are a broad movement with a singular focus. Our supporters and volunteers are Christian, Jewish, and secular Australians.

Founded after October 7, 2023, we are experiencing rapid growth around the country and are looking for a gifted, values-aligned leader who can scale up our impact in Victoria.  

 

Role Purpose

The State Director is the senior representative of the organisation within the State and is responsible for advancing the organisation’s mission through advocacy, engagement, events and stakeholder relationships. The role focuses on activating supporters and volunteers, cultivating local chapters and leadership, leading state-based initiatives, supporting sustainable funding opportunities, and providing feedback and insight to the national organisation to ensure strong alignment between state activity and national strategy

 

Key Responsibilities

State Representation & Advocacy

  • Act as the primary representative and public voice of the national organisation within the State.
  • Represent the organisation with community leaders, partner organisations and other stakeholders in line with national messaging and strategy.

 

Volunteer, Supporter & Chapter Engagement

  • Lead the engagement, activation and coordination of state-based volunteers and supporters.
  • Establish, support and grow local chapters of volunteers across the State to strengthen grassroots presence and community impact.
  • Identify, mentor and support local chapter leaders to build leadership capacity and ensure alignment with organisational values, priorities and standards.
  • Encourage participation, retention and a positive, values-aligned organisational culture among volunteers, supporters and local leaders.

 

Events & Campaign Leadership

  • Provide leadership in the planning, coordination and delivery of state-based events, campaigns and activities, ensuring they are delivered safely, ethically and in accordance with organisational policies.
  • Support and guide local chapters in the delivery of events and activities at a local level, in alignment with national and state priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with national teams to align state-based activity with national campaigns.

 

Stakeholder Relationships

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders, community organisations, partner groups and supporters within the State.
  • In particular the candidate must be able to build strong relationships with the Jewish and Christian communities.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration that support the organisation’s advocacy, programs and strategic objectives.

 

Fundraising & Sustainability

  • Identify and cultivate partnerships and donor relationships and assist in strengthening sustainable funding streams through community engagement, events and philanthropic relationships.

 

Reporting & Feedback

  • Provide regular updates and reports to the CEO / COO on state-based activities, including volunteer engagement and local chapter development, engagement levels, outcomes and emerging issues to inform national strategy, planning and advocacy priorities.

 

General Responsibilities

  • Operate in accordance with the organisation’s values, policies and codes of conduct.
  • Undertake other duties consistent with the role as required.

 

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Strong leadership and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in advocacy, community engagement, volunteer leadership, not-for-profit or related sectors.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to fully utilise our tech stack
  • Alignment with the organisation’s mission and values.

 

Working Conditions

  • Part-time role with flexible working arrangements.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work will be required for events or stakeholder engagement.
  • Some intrastate travel will be required.
