The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and mission‑aligned People & Culture Manager to lead all aspects of Human Resources across our Australian and New Zealand operations. This pivotal role ensures our people practices are supportive, consistent, and aligned with the Christian mission, culture, and global values of Samaritan’s Purse.

You will act as a trusted advisor to leadership, managers, and staff, providing strategic and operational HR guidance. The role also ensures compliance with Australian employment laws and aligns local HR initiatives with International Headquarters (IHQ) expectations.

This position may involve occasional travel within Australia, New Zealand, and to IHQ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all People & Culture/HR functions across the organisation.
  • Ensure HR practices reflect our Christian mission, culture, and values.
  • Provide strategic HR advice to leadership, managers, and employees.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, development, and employee relations.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation.
  • Align HR policies and initiatives with International Headquarters direction.
  • Support organisational culture, engagement, and workforce wellbeing.

Collaborate with 3 organisations – Samaritan’s Purse Australia, Operation Christmas Child and The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association

 

About You

Essential Criteria (please address in your cover letter):

  • A committed Christian who aligns with our Statement of Faith, mission and values; maintains membership in good standing with a church.
  • Experienced HR or People & Culture professional with strong generalist capability.
  • Strong understanding of Australian workplace and employment law.
  • Excellent communicator and trusted relational leader.
  • Able to balance strategic insight with hands‑on HR delivery.
  • Organised, proactive, and values‑driven.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field and five to seven years’ experience leading the Human Resources function within an organization, preferably a Christian non-profit; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
