International Document Controller – MAF International

Location: Cairns or Mareeba | Full time Permanent | Starting Nov 2026

Do you love bringing structure, clarity, and consistency to complex information? Do you take pride in producing high-quality documents that support teams around the world? MAF is looking for an International Document Controller to help ensure their manuals, policies, and procedures meet the highest standards and support their life-saving aviation work globally. Other locations may be considered for suitable candidates.

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is an organisation using light aircraft to deliver help, hope and healing in Jesus’ name in developing countries. For more than 75 years, MAF has been transporting patients, relief workers, produce and medical supplies to the world’s remotest regions and places of deepest human need – places where flying is not a luxury but a lifeline.

Why join MAF?

  • Make a tangible impact globally by ensuring our teams have the information they need to save live
  • Be part of a values-driven, supportive international team
  • Grow your professional expertise while contributing to a meaningful mission

**NOTE: Applicants must have the legal right to work in either Australia. Successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment background checks including a National Criminal History check. Acceptance of and adherence to MAF’s purpose, vision and values is an essential condition of employment. **

What you’ll do:

In this role, you’ll be at the heart of MAF’s document management system, producing, editing, and formatting controlled documents, including manuals, policies, and forms, using a range of specialist editing software.

You’ll manage the document change process, issue revisions, and maintain our intranet-based repositories to ensure teams have access to the latest, most accurate information.

You’ll also provide vital support to document controllers across the organisation—liaising with technical authors, helping new document controllers get up to speed. Quality control will be key: you’ll proofread, cross-reference, and check formats to ensure every document is precise and compliant.

Beyond documents, you’ll assist the QSS department with stakeholder meetings, training events, and other administrative tasks. You’ll also have opportunities to provide guidance, troubleshoot system issues, and help maintain global standards for MAF programmes.

Availability to attend weekly team meetings outside regular office hours

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with a passion for producing high-quality, accurate, and compliant documentation.
  • Experience in document control, editing, or publishing, ideally with technical manuals, policies, or other controlled publications.
  • Comfortable using a range of editing software, with an understanding of version control and controlled distribution.
  • Awareness of regulatory and compliance requirements related to documentation (aviation, safety, or organisational standards).
  • Able to communicate clearly and collaboratively with teams across multiple countries and time zones.
  • A proactive team player who can mentor and support others, provide guidance, and step into roles where needed.
