Parramatta Community Care (PC Care), the care arm of Parramatta Christian Church, carries out the church’s mercy ministry by providing free and low-cost groceries to those in need, complementing its gospel outreach. The distribution hub manager plays a key role in this ministry, approaching their work with a gospel-centered perspective, resilience, and commitment to long-term service, relying on the Holy Spirit to persevere in their mission.



Your Role

Casual/Permanent part-time position
Approximately 10-12 hours per week 

As the Foodcare Hub Coordinator, you will:

  • Support Operations: Manage the emergency food pantry (Thursday/Friday) and provide client support.
  • Volunteer Management: Oversee and train volunteers to effectively engage with people experiencing disadvantage.
  • Client-Centered Approach: Ensure services are delivered with a client-centered approach.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Community Engagement Officer, administrative team, and the PC Care Board to ensure effective service delivery.

 

Responsibilities

  • Operational Management: Oversee all aspects of FoodCare, ensuring alignment with PC Care's ethics, vision, and goals.
  • Environment: Create a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere for customers, staff and volunteers. Engaging within a culturally sensitive framework
  • Safety: Ensure a safe environment, updating and conducting safety procedures as necessary.
  • Staff & Volunteer Management: Ensure compliance with WH&S requirements, manage attendance, compliance and training of staff and volunteers, 
  • Performance Management: Encourage and support staff and volunteers, providing coaching and disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Ordering & Financial Stewardship: Order goods responsibly, in line with client needs and PC Care values.
  • Administration: Manage the FoodCare mobile phone, set up shop appointments, and handle enquiries.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in community engagement activities and promote FoodCare
  • Perform additional duties as deemed appropriate by the PC Care Board.


Optional Responsibilities

  • Complex Client Needs: Work with clients experiencing complex needs, advocating and referring to specialist services.
  • Volunteer Availability: Ensure sufficient volunteers are available during business hours to meet client needs.


Requirements

  • Experience: Demonstrated experience working with disadvantaged communities and individuals.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Alignment with Values: Maintain personal values aligned with PC Care and participate in church activities.
  • Management Experience: Experience in managing staff and volunteers in a not-for-profit setting.
  • Customer Service: Skilled in delivering excellent customer service.
  • Reporting: Provide weekly and monthly reports to the PC Care Board on operations and feedback.
  • Financial Input: Contribute to financial data for budgeting and expenditure review as needed
  • Stock Management: Conduct six-monthly stock takes and report to the PC Care Board.
  • Driver's Licence: Hold a valid NSW Driver Licence.
