LCANZ Professional Standards
The Lutheran Church of Australia and New Zealand (LCANZ) Professional Standards team assists the ministries of the church, to meet their legal and ethical obligations. There is a special focus on keeping children and vulnerable adults safe. The team seeks to empower local ministry leaders through its Safe Church training program, which is available online in both self-paced and live formats. Professional Standards is involved in handling formal complaints and supporting people in the church, in relation to disclosures or reports of risk of harm, as well as in assisting local leaders who are working through various types of difficult situations that may impact people’s safety. Further, the team addresses requests for redress from survivors of abuse.
Objective of position
The Professional Standards Administration Assistant contributes to the team’s work through administrative tasks and reports to the Professional Standards Manager.
Duties of position
- Carrying out administrative tasks, in relation to live online training events on Zoom
- Collaborating with others on the Professional Standards team, as instructed by the Professional Standards Manager
- Dealing with, and responding to, Safe Church related enquiries and correspondence
- Managing Professional Standards records
- Processing accounts
Required qualifications, skills and attributes
- High level of organisational and recordkeeping skills
- Previous experience and competency using Office 365 (particularly SharePoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams) and Zoom
- Completion of LCANZ Safe Church Level 1 and Level 2 live online training, or ability to complete the training before commencement
- Current employment related Department of Human Services Working With Children Check clearance, or ability to obtain such a clearance before commencement
Desired qualifications, skills and attributes
- Demonstrated commitment to living a life of faith and modelling the Gospel of Jesus Christ
- Sound understanding of the Lutheran Church, its people, practices and culture
- Active member of the Lutheran Church or another Christian denomination
- Specific experience in administrative tasks, connected with training events using Zoom software

- The Professional Standards Administration Assistant reports, and is directly accountable, to the Professional Standards
