Vision Christian Media seeks a detail-oriented and experienced accounting professional to join and support our growing Finance Team.

The Opportunity:

As the ministry’s Accountant, you will be part of a Team whose primary purpose is to lead the Ministry in meeting its financial goals by facilitating day-to-day processes such as payroll processing and management, accounts receivable and payable supervision, reconciliations and reporting under the direction of the Financial Controller.

In conjunction with the above responsibilities, this role will support the Ministry’s accounts payable function, which might include payment and management of expenses with the adopted and approved controls and procedures. The primary objective in all responsibilities will be to ensure an exceptional degree of accuracy and that the processes are completed in a timely manner. 

This is more than just a job; it is a ministry opportunity for someone with a gift and calling in accounting and not-for-profit financial management who is highly attentive to detail.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Bookkeeping and accounts administration for multiple entities.
  • Bookkeeping duties - financial data entry and preparation of documents for the Financial Controller.
  • Preparation of financial reports and reconciliations across multiple accounts.
  • Timesheets, Payroll processing, including superannuation contribution, timely preparation and submission of Payroll reports, using Employment Hero.
  • Handle supplier and customer invoices and communicate with clients regarding payments and invoices when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and assist with end-of-month and other financial reports.
  • Assist with end-of-year balance sheet reporting, analysis and account working papers.
  • Efficiently manage accounts receivable and assist with accounts payable processing when required.
  • Assist with daily banking reconciliation, deposits and reporting.
  • Customer service – general phone duties, call and email handling.

 

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in a medium-sized and or Not-for-profit organisation.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or accreditation.
  • Previous experience in preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reports and processes.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Dynamics, Office Suite, and Excel.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to align with our organisation’s mission, values, and culture.
