Do you want to make a difference in the lives of people who’ve experienced adversity and housing insecurity?  Do you want to use your practical skills and your leadership skills?

You’ll be liaising with housing organisations to source and scope small projects of painting, minor repairs, gardening and minor landscaping. You will work with our team to organise corporate volunteers for these projects and help them deliver the projects onsite.  You’ll be leading a safe, enjoyable and impactful program.

Who we are

Our vision is a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.  Our mission is seeking to put God’s love into action, by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Habitat for Humanity Victoria (HFHV), currently has two key programs. Our Brush with Kindness Program (BWK) mobilises teams of volunteers to undertake property maintenance projects in partnership with housing organisations. It is a vital part of our ongoing impact with people who have experienced adversity and housing insecurity.  Activities may include painting, gardening, landscaping and minor maintenance. We also have a Home Building Program through which we build affordable housing and help low-income families move into home ownership through no-interest loans and building shared equity.

We are part of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). A global not-for-profit provider of housing for low-income families in need. Established in 1976, HFHI has changed the lives of people all over the world.  Today, HFHI works in thousands of communities around the world and has built, rehabilitated and repaired over one million homes, helping more than 62 million people.

HFHV is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity Australia (HFHA) and we work closely to enable our volunteer programs. We are a Christian-based not-for-profit humanitarian organisation and as an inclusive employer we believe people should be employed on the basis of merit. All HFHV program staff must undertake a police check, have a Working With Children card and are continually monitored for safeguarding and their suitability for working with vulnerable people and children.

Your Volunteer Program Coordinator Role

As the Volunteer Program Coordinator, you’ll lead our Brush with Kindness Program (BWK).  This involves actively liaising and planning with partner housing organisations (particularly in the inner east corridor) to scoping ongoing small projects. The role requires working with HFHA to organise corporate volunteer days including the planning and delivering of on-site projects with the volunteers. Organising community projects and activating our HFHV volunteers to fulfil their requirements will also be a significant part of the role.
