About the role
Based in Sydney, you will join a small team and play a key role in managing payments, reconciling accounts, processing payroll and payroll changes and ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date.

The Finance Support Officer at Baptist World Aid Australia plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes within the organisation. This position is designed for an individual who is detail-oriented and possesses strong analytical skills, with a passion for contributing to the BWA mission.

In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall financial health of the organisation, including:

  • Execute in a timely manner all Accounts payable
  • Manage all aspects of payroll processing including superannuation and salary packaging  
  • Handle account inquiries and follow up as needed
  • Manage the many other financial transactions such as International Partner payments, credit card and petty cash payments
  • Maintain accurate financial records for audit and compliance and provide reports as needed.

This position requires someone who can work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and demonstrate a commitment to the values of Baptist World Aid Australia. The Finance Support Officer will play an integral part in fostering a culture of accountability and transparency within the organisation’s finance operations for audit and compliance and provide reports as needed.


Who are we looking for?
You may be an Accounts assistant looking for a change, a bookkeeper or an administrator who has had exposure to accounts.

Ideally you will have

  • Minimum of 2- 3 years-experience in accounts payable and Australian payroll, with a good knowledge of accounting principles and GL processes and financial controls.
  • Customer service orientated with a “can-do” attitude
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Aligned to the vision and mission and values of Baptist World Aid

It would be an advantage if you had

  • Demonstrated ability in managing NetSuite or similar financial/ERP system
  • Demonstrated experience in making international payments
  • Not for profit salary packaging experience
