Pastoral Care Worker – Seniors Communities – Illawarra region
- Permanent part-time role (2 or 4 days/week) based in Mount Ousley.
- Provide spiritual care to Home Care Package clients across Illawarra, Shoalhaven, and the Highlands.
- Support clients with dementia and cognitive decline at the Mount Ousley Social Wellness Centre.
The role of Pastoral Carer is a rewarding position for someone with a passion for Christ-centred care, to join the supportive and dedicated Seniors Communities Pastoral Care team in Anglicare.
Working in Seniors' Community, you will make a valued contribution to our clients/residents and staff supporting with their spiritual and emotional needs.
This is a Permanent Part time (2 or 4 days a week) role based at Mount Ousley.
Majority of this role would be providing spiritual care to clients in their homes who are on a Home Care package within the regions from Illawarra, Shoalhaven & the Highlands.
You will also be required to provide spiritual care to clients with cognitive decline and dementia attending the Social Wellness Centre in Mount Ousley.

Pastoral Carers contribute to supporting ongoing spiritual needs and well-being, by visiting client/residents, being a good listener and providing a variety of pastoral care initiatives.
Introductory Pastoral Care training will be provided, together with on-going support, mentoring and other relevant training.
Key Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Ability to demonstrate a vast amount of Pastoral Care experience and a theological understanding.
- Ensures all clients/residents are respected and treated with empathy and dignity.
- Develops collaborative and supportive working relationships with the At Home staff and Pastoral care Team.
- Ensures a holistic approach is taken to meet clients/residents' needs, home visits, phone calls and providing spiritual input. Is an active listener who builds trust and demonstrates a high level of compassion
- Contributes to the provision of support for relatives and staff in moments of need, by providing pastoral care as required.
About you:
- A passion for aged care and previous experience in Aged Care desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated reliability and flexibility
- Computer efficiency and strong administration skills (preferred)
- A current Working with Children’s Check Clearance or willingness to obtain
- Relevant training/qualifications highly regarded
- Previous experience in ministry or pastoral care (preferred)
- Understanding and knowledge of cognitive decline and Dementia (preferred)
