Position Description: Youth Pastor or Youth Worker
Church: Perth Alliance Church (South)
Working Hours: Part Time (3 days per week / 0.6 FTE) negotiable
Commencement: 1 January 2026 (or earlier as agreed)
Outline of Responsibilities: The Youth Pastor or Youth Worker will have an important role in overseeing and supporting our church's Youth Ministry of making and growing disciples of Jesus amongst our Youth (essentially children in secondary school years 7-12 but also including university students). Our church's Youth Ministry presently includes Youth Group on Friday evenings (approx. 25 Youth), Sunday morning Discipleship Groups (Logos Youth & Kairos Youth), one-on-one discipling and mentoring, and annual combined Youth Camp.
Our Church: Perth Alliance Church (South) is a member church of the Christian & Missionary Alliance of Australia and comprises three congregations: Cantonese-, Mandarin- & English-speaking. All three congregations have Youth and cooperate in Youth Ministry provided in English.
Reporting: The Youth Pastor or Youth Worker will report to the Lead Pastor. They will be invited to be part of the Pastoral Team and will work closely with the pastors in each congregation. They will participate in a variety of teams and meetings as required.
Qualifications: The Youth Pastor will need to have suitable theological training with a minimum of a Dip. Th. (preferably a B.Th.) from the Alliance Institute for Mission or its equivalent. They will be assisted in getting licensed with the C&MA of Australia as a Licensed Worker. The Youth Worker will need to have a Dip. or Cert. IV of Youth Work or equivalent, and preferably some theological training. We are also happy to consider applications for the position of Youth Worker, which may suit a Ministry Intern (e.g. MTS student), with a view to pursuing theological studies at a later date. All candidates will be required to hold a valid Working With Children Check card and consent to conducting a National Police Check upon commencement in the role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, train and enthuse a team of volunteers to lead and serve in various capacities that advance the Youth Ministry objective of making & growing disciples of Jesus amongst our Youth.
- Provide leadership, direction and development of the church's Youth Ministry that enables it to effectively serve the rapidly growing number of Youth.
- Provide and facilitate pastoral care of Youth and Youth Leaders
- Assist with and facilitate the development and implementation of suitable curriculum and teaching materials for use in Youth Group and Sunday morning Discipleship Groups.
- Establish effective communication channels with, work alongside, and empower parents and carers to take a principal role in the discipleship of their own teenage children.
- Oversee the organization of Youth Ministry events, e.g. end of term, inter-church, holiday activities, camps, etc.
- Help to ensure a safe, engaging and spiritually enriching environment for teen age children, supporting their spiritual development and engagement with the wider church community.
- Collaborate with the PACS Pastoral Team to integrate the Youth Ministry into the overall vision for discipleship in the church.
- Oversee compliance with all legal, safety and care requirements through development and adoption of appropriate policies, procedures, communication and training for leaders and team members in accordance with the 'PAC Child Safety Policy'.
- Develop and help establish a revived small group Bible Study & Fellowship Group for University students and young adults who have graduated from High School and no longer attend Youth Group (except perhaps as leaders).

- Of good character and moral integrity (Ephesians 5:3ff).
- Is able to work well in a team environment, both as leader and when being led.
Desirable Attributes:
- Previous ministry experience with Youth
- Cross-cultural experience and understanding
- Fluency in Chinese language
Additional Ministry Opportunities:
The Youth Pastor or Youth Worker may also be invited to be part of our preaching and teaching team (according to their gifting and as negotiated). They will be invited to participate in a variety of ways in weekly Sunday services, including opportunities to lead services, lead prayer, lead Holy Communion, conduct baptisms, etc.
Remuneration:
Remuneration is negotiable depending on Ministry experience and qualifications.
