International Needs Australia is seeking a Programs and Compliance Officer based in Melbourne to:
We are seeking our new part-time Programs and Compliance Officer (2 days a week) to support International Needs Australia’s locally-led development and humanitarian programs and partnerships in 7 countries, including contributing to the implementation of INA’s development strategy and approaches, supporting the monitoring of all projects, participating in INA’s Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) partnership, working on proposal development, and collaborating on fundraising and communication product creation. The role reports to the INA International Programs Manager.

International Needs Australia (INA) is a Christian, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and donor-funded and accredited international development organisation that works with the poorest and most marginalised communities, especially women and children, to eliminate poverty and its causes, regardless of affiliation. - Brings supporters and in-country partners closer together and co-designs projects together with all relevant stakeholders to support innovation and ensure alignment.
About the role
The Programs and Compliance Officer supports the quality, effectiveness and accountability of INA’s international development portfolio. Reporting to the International Programs Manager, the role contributes to project design, monitoring, evaluation, compliance and reporting, while strengthening partner capability and supporting INA’s accreditation and governance obligations.
This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role suited to a development practitioner with strong compliance, coordination and communication skills who is committed to locally-led development and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support partners in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, including use of log frames and Theory of Change.
- Coordinate and manage partners’ quarterly and annual reporting, ensuring quality, accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain project management systems and databases with up‑to‑date program information.
- Maintain and update INA policies and procedures to ensure compliance with DFAT, ACFID and other relevant legal and sector frameworks.
- Support INA’s DFAT accreditation and ANCP re‑accreditation processes, including self‑assessments and evidence collection.
- Assist partners to strengthen their compliance systems and practices.
- Contribute to grant research, applications and donor reporting.
- Support fundraising, education and communications teams with accurate and ethical field content.
- Prepare Development Committee agendas and minutes and support governance administration as required.
