Riverview Church is looking for a full-time Worship Pastor to join our team.
The Worship Pastor is responsible for leading and shaping vibrant corporate worship at Riverview Church. This role contributes by encouraging our church to worship Jesus, who is the focus of our love and worship; by leading, cultivating, and developing our Worship Team; and championing an articulate worship culture. This role provides pastoral care to Worship Team members and is a key contributor to special events throughout the Riverview Church calendar.
While we are primarily seeking a full-time Worship Pastor, we are open to conversations with gifted applicants who may be seeking a part-time or shared-role arrangement.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Worship Team Leadership
- Lead and develop a volunteer worship team who, themselves, are gifted to call and lead the church to worship.
- Serve as the primary worship leader or music director for Riverview Church, while giving space for others to serve and grow.
- Oversee worship team activation and resourcing.
- Operate and maintain Riverview Church studio and musical instruments.
Sunday Worship Leadership
- Able to confidently lead and musically direct a band in a live worship setting.
- Facilitate corporate worship in church services that are vibrant, encouraging, and engaging.
- Ensure team operations are well-planned, stress-free, and people oriented.
- Participate in a church leadership role that is relational, intentional, cohesive, and helpful.
Pastoral Care
- Function as a Riverview Church pastoral staff member, upholding excellent pastoral care standards.
- Provide and facilitate relational pastoral care for the worship team, as required.
- Ensure the relational strength of the worship team is demonstrably robust.
- Maintain strong relational networks across church.
The successful applicant will have to possess the following essential and/or desirable competencies:
Essential Competencies
- Embodies the Riverview Church mission, vision, and ethos.
- Gifted worship leader or music director with proven experience in church settings.
- Pastoral experience with demonstrated empathy, listening, and rapport-building capabilities.
- Passionate about using music to support spiritual formation and community connection.
- Excellent team leader, collaborator, and communicator, with strong organisational skills.
- Advanced proficiency in singing, guitar, or piano.
- Advanced proficiency in music theory.
- Experience with Ableton and/or other DAWs.
- Work on Sundays across 3 services (6.30 am to 12.30 pm; 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm).
- Available for ad-hoc events and worship team nights required.
Desirable Competencies
- Formal qualifications in music
- Sound Engineering skills
