National Development Director

National not-for-profit organisation.

Home-based role with flexible location. (Sydney or Brisbane)

Newly created senior position.

Help the Persecuted rescues, restores and rebuilds the lives of persecuted Christians suffering for their faith in regions hostile to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Part of an international movement, it provides emergency evacuation, safe housing, medical care, trauma counselling, relocation support and sustainable livelihoods through local Ministry Teams, grounded in pastoral care and discipleship. Help the Persecuted have built a warm foundation since 2019: a responsive donor file, an established international communications programme, a growing monthly giving community, and connections into Australian Christian media and church networks that are ready to be activated. What they don’t have yet is someone in Australia whose sole focus is to develop it. As global persecution increases, this mission is increasingly urgent.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the National Development Director will lead fundraising, communications, public relations and major donor engagement across Australia. You will build strategic relationships with churches, mobilise prayer, grow financial resources, raise awareness and strengthen partnerships with Christian media.

You will also:

  • Grow the national major donor base.
  • Develop and deliver fundraising and communications strategies.
  • Expand Christian media engagement, digital fundraising and regular giving.
  • Represent Help the Persecuted in Christian media, at churches, conferences and events across Australia.
  • Build and lead a small development team as the ministry expands.

About You

Help the Persecuted is seeking a faith-filled, visionary leader with proven fundraising success, strategic capability, spiritual maturity, integrity and compassion for persecuted believers. You will be a strong communicator with experience in donor development, fundraising, public speaking and stakeholder management and have a sound understanding of the Christian Church landscape. You will be innovative, resourceful, have great people skills, who is able to pioneer new opportunities without relying on warm introductions. The successful candidate will have experience working with boards and volunteers in a fundraising capacity and has some experience in initiating and developing relationships with media outlets. Your ability to work independently, set priorities and perform effectively with minimal supervision will be highly regarded.

This new role offers you the opportunity to join a global movement that changes lives daily where you can use your gifts to make a tangible and eternal impact helping persecuted Christians. This is more than just a job - it is a Christian vocation.  A generous salary package, including superannuation and benefits, will be offered based on experience and qualification, along with flexible working arrangements and a home office. There will be a requirement for some international travel.

If you want to make a meaningful difference for persecuted Christians worldwide, we would love to hear from you. To apply, please send your confidential CV and application letter of two pages or less to Linton Deane at admin@eaglehr.com.au. For a confidential discussion, call Linton on 03 9653 9468.
