Community Engagement Officer

INF Australia is seeking a part-time Community Engagement Officer to help strengthen relationships with our supporters and church partners and create meaningful opportunities for people to connect more deeply with God's work in Nepal.
This is a practical, relational role combining church engagement, supporter events, international vision trips and community fundraising.
At its heart, we are looking for a connector, someone who enjoys meeting people, understanding what matters to them and helping them find meaningful ways to engage with INF's mission.
About the Role
This flexible, part-time role is ideal for someone who is relational, organised, proactive and comfortable taking initiative.
This role reports to the INF Australia’s Communications Manager. You will work closely with INF Australia's fundraising and communications team to create opportunities for supporters, churches and prospective supporters to experience and engage with INF's work.
While events and coordination are an important part of the role, the purpose goes beyond delivering activities. We want every church visit, supporter event and vision trip to create opportunities for stronger relationships, deeper engagement and increased participation in INF's mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Community & Supporter Engagement
- Build and strengthen relationships with INF's existing church partners, supporters and community networks.
- Identify and develop relationships with new churches, Christian communities and prospective supporters.
- Create and coordinate events, church visits, presentations and speaking opportunities that connect people with INF's mission and work.
- Plan and deliver supporter engagement activities across Australia, including venues, logistics, invitations and communications.
- Act as a connector, taking time to understand people's interests, motivations and connection with INF and identifying meaningful ways for them to become more involved.
- Ensure intentional follow-up after events, church visits and other engagement activities so relationships continue to develop.
- Identify opportunities for deeper engagement through prayer, giving, fundraising, vision trips and other forms of participation.
- Work closely with the Philanthropy Manager to identify supporters and relationships with potential for further cultivation.
- Play a key role in INF's 75th Anniversary engagement activities during 2027, including opportunities to reconnect past supporters and churches with INF.
- Supporter & Vision Trips
- Coordinate short-term supporter and church vision trips to Nepal and other locations connected with INF's work.
- Liaise with INF teams and partners to develop itineraries and coordinate travel and in-country logistics.
- Manage participant communication, registrations, preparation and relevant travel arrangements.
- Help participants understand INF's mission, work and context before travelling.
- Maintain connection with participants following their return and help identify meaningful next steps in their relationship with INF.
- Work with the fundraising team to identify and follow up engagement and fundraising opportunities that emerge through these experiences.
- Fundraising & Relationship Development
- Develop genuine relationships with supporters and take time to understand their story, interests and motivations for supporting INF.
- Identify opportunities for supporters to deepen their involvement with INF.
- Develop and support community fundraising opportunities through churches, supporters and community networks.
- Encourage and support supporter-led fundraising initiatives.
- Confidently invite people to financially support INF where appropriate.
- Identify emerging fundraising opportunities and work with the Philanthropy Manager to determine appropriate next steps.
- Connect higher-potential relationships with the Philanthropy Manager for further cultivation where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate supporter information, interactions and relationship activity within INF's CRM including processing donations, receipting/banking, receiving and responding to office mail / phone calls / emails
- Work collaboratively with the communications team to ensure supporter communications, events and engagement activities contribute to a clear supporter journey.

- Is comfortable engaging with supporters, churches, volunteers and community leaders.
- Can work independently while collaborating closely with a small team.
- Is comfortable with fundraising and inviting people to become more deeply involved in a cause they care about.
- Is aligned with INF Australia's Christian mission and values.
Experience in one or more of the following would be valuable:
- Community engagement or relationship management
- Fundraising, sponsorship or business development
- Event coordination
- Church or Christian ministry engagement
- International travel or mission/vision trip coordination
- Marketing and communications
- Supporter or customer relationship management
Direct fundraising experience is desirable but not essential. We are particularly interested in someone with strong relational ability, initiative and the potential to develop as a fundraiser.
Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and have ongoing work rights in Australia. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Remuneration: will be commensurate with qualifications, relevant experience and demonstrated capability.
